Responsive Acrostic

(response to Flannan Isle)

Wild horses gallop with glee,
Atmospheric sky spells stormy doom,

Typhoon twirls in its new dress,
Excited storm beats the cowardly cliff,

Rowdy rain pummels Flannan Isle.

    Arthur,
I outlawed acrostic poems in my classes long ago, but I honestly feel that this has made reconsider my position. Your images are well crafted and I particularly like the juxtaposition of ‘cowardly cliff’; this is an image that forces your reader to pay attention. Cliffs are often thought of as solemn and unchangeable, mightier than man – not cowardly. Well done.

Target: Did it have to be an acrostic? I’m genuinely unsure, it certainly made me smile on my sick day. Thank you.
